Aadya organises free camps across the regions of Assam and celebrates womanhood through various activities. Aadya works to provide guidance regarding menstrual management to adolescent girls and women. Aadya advocates that Menstrual Hygiene Management should be an integral part of our education curriculum.

On the occasion of India’s 72nd Republic Day, JCB Industries from Guwahati celebrated womanhood and distributed ‘Aadya’ sanitary pads in various locations in and around Guwahati. The drive was carried out by two teams of JCBI. The first team distributed Aadya sanitary napkins to students of different colleges and institutes in Guwahati. The second team distributed the pads to residents of paying guest houses and hostels across Guwahati. A total of 2475 packets were distributed in 33 places.

Places, where the free pads were distributed, include:

· B Barooah Cancer Institute

· Asiana Girls Hostel

The philanthropic event on ‘Menstrual Hygiene & Health’ was organized in Karayani High School, Rangamati of Golaghat on the occasion of National Women Farmer’s Day. The meaningful event is being organized by ‘AADYA’.

Around 143 participants attended the event. The students were given a briefing about the importance of Menstrual Hygiene & Health and how to use sanitary napkins for better health conditions. After a briefing session, AADYA sanitary napkin packets were distributed among the students and women.

As part of the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Awareness Campaign by Aadya, another massive session was conducted at the TC Girls High School on 11th June 2019. Participation and engagement with 320 girl students made the session a huge success, thus, creating an impact at the grass-root level. The health practitioners and instructors briefed the audience about basic menstrual health issues and Menstrual Health Management procedures. The girls also got answers to many of their queries related to menstrual health & hygiene in the same session.

Team Aadya also donated some sanitary napkins to the school management which could be of use to the girls in menstrual periods during school hours. The team got a highly positive and supportive response from the students & faculty of the School. We hope for better menstrual health of the participants and their family & friends, through our initiative.

An engaging and instructive session on menstrual hygiene was conducted at Dakshin Beltola ME School, on the 10th of June, 2019 as the commencement of the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Awareness Campaign, an initiative by Aadya. A proficient team of Instructors from around the nation addressed the girl students about different taboos associated with menstruation prevalent in the region, along with numerous facts and the know-how concerning menstrual hygiene and health.

Free samples of Aadya’s sanitary napkins were also gifted to the school authorities with the intention of having the girl students use them whenever needed during school hours. The initiative is targeted to educate the population of rural & semi-urban areas where various myths are accepted, exercised and have had numerous adverse effects such as many girls dropping out of their classes during their vital study hours. This long-term campaign covering almost the whole state of Assam at the first stage, aims to bring about an effective change in the lives of the girls and women in the region.

The Aadya team, as a part of its Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) awareness campaign, organized an event on World Menstrual Hygiene Day, celebrated on May 28, 2019, at Parijat Academy, Guwahati.

An interactive session was conducted amongst the girl students of class 6 to 10 with renowned gynecologists from the Guwahati Medical Hospital. The doctors addressed several myths and questions concerning MHM and educated the students regarding basic menstrual hygiene and health issues, which could affect their daily lives. To promote the usage of sanitary napkins, the girl students and lady teachers of the Academy were gifted with a sample packet of Aadya’s sanitary napkins. A carton of packets was also donated to the management of the Academy to provide it to those who needed them at the time of necessity during school hours.

A special awareness campaign to boost menstrual hygiene and to promote the use of sanitary napkins among young school and college girls was organised by SM 89, the 1989 HSLC batch of St. Mary’s English High School, Guwahati, in association with Aaina Jibonor — Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd’s lifestyle magazine — at Bezera near Baihata Chariali in the month of August 2018.

Efforts were made to sensitize young girls and the need to use sanitary napkins was emphasized during the program. An alumnus of St. Mary’s High School that included Pride East CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sharma joined hands for the social cause to promote menstrual hygiene.
