Aadya, a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit was set up in her late father’s industrial shed, established way back in 1950, with an eye towards celebrating womanhood by educating women on menstrual health and hygiene and breaking the myths and taboos associated with it.
The very name “Aadya” represents the original, the first flower or ornaments. It is way to reach towards the empowerment, of women through a revolutionary process of Education, Health, Hygiene and Protection. This is a march for women who are still unaware of health hazards which results in suffering from lots of diseases affecting their health as well as the future generations to come.
Aadya, is a new concept of women empowerment which emphasizes in Dignity, Health and Revolution and its only contribution is to give a Healthier Society, free from all health hazards. Let us all join hands together for a better and a Healthier Society. #zaroorihai
Vision & Mission
Where it all began
Menstrual hygiene is a basic human right that continues to elude millions of Indian women. Research shows that only around 18% of women in the country have access to sanitary protection and the rest do not even know about the product or its usage.
Vision
The National Family Health Survey 2015-16 confirmed that just around 57.6% of women in the age group of 15-24 years were found to use hygienic methods. The figure shot up to 77.5% in urban areas and fell to just 48.2% in rural areas.
Mission
Aadya aims to address this lopsided equation which is severely impacting Indian women, preventing them from leading a life of respect and dignity. Some of the barriers preventing large scale adoption of sanitary pads are deep rooted taboos regarding menstruation, lack of awareness and high cost impacting monthly budgets.
We can do it
Our objective is to tackle these awareness and perception barriers while simultaneously ensuring that women across urban and rural India have access to high quality and affordable menstrual hygiene products. Aadya plans to initially target the Northeast Indian market and subsequently take its products to women across the country.
